WHY AM I FAT?
By Ted Kewin

I exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet, but I'm still "fat"! Most people (trainers as well) say you probably eat too much. And they might be right. But is that all it is? I need to exercise more and eat less? Sounds simple enough....

So I've tried that, why am I still fat?! What if it's more than that.? What if it's my genes telling me to store fat? Or even something as simple as a nutrient deficiency telling my body to eat more?

If we went back in time-thousands of years--okay maybe not as far as cave man but 4-5000 years ago (or even as little as 500 yeara ago) do you think people were fat?! Well, if they were they'd probably have been eaten by the local tiger or lion, dinosaur (add your own animal here) etc. So was that just the natural selection process--the "survival of the fittest"?

I beg to differ. I don't think they ever got fat in the first place! Now I'm sure they got plenty of exercise, ate a good healthy diet, and didn't overeat and all... But do you think they went out for a 10K "run" everyday? Or lifted 10x10 in the squat? Or "kettlebell trained for fat loss"? Of course not! Now I'm not saying there is anything wrong with any of those things if you are looking for a response. But are you getting the right response? The response you intended?

The point I'm trying to make here is that I don't think we were meant to be fat. I think our genes are programming us to become that way, due to various factors. Mainly, I think, to nutrient deficiency. Yes, I believe exercise is very important. But again, do you think ancient man went for a "run'' to lose some fat?! Ha! It's sounds ludicrous! If we went back in time (or they came here for that matter) what would ancient man think of us!? I bet they'd think we were nuts! Now again, I'm not advocating laziness. But shouldn't it be a lot easier than it is?

Okay here's a classic example for all of you over 30, regarding a change in our environment. When you were in school--elementary or even high school--how many boys were there with "tits"? Very few as compared to today. We all knew those poor kids. They'd always showered by themselves and wanted to wear their t-shirts in the pool. Nowadays that's the number one complaint of boys in school. They want to wear their shirts swimming!

That's a sign of aromatization, meaning a man is converting his testosterone to estrogen. Slow feminization of the population. Now hey, I'm not saying I want the women to be men! I am just as happy to see lots of feminine women around. Mine for one! ;) But men (and boys for that matter) should be men. Why do you think steroid use among teenagers--even as early as elementray school--is on the rise?

Now look at the women. I was recently at a another seminar in a U.S. city--which will remain nameless--(although it is pretty much the same everywhere I go--even as far as England!) I noticed the shape of the girls serving us in the restaurant. They were all small breasted with larger hips and thighs and all had "muffin tops" (where the fat rolls over their jeans) and there wasn't one exception! These girls were in the 19-22 range! In the last few years I have noticed a change in all women's shapes. Aside from the obvious "augmentation", which is a result of hormonal imbalance, the women have changed. Women now tend to have smaller breasts and larger hips and thighs than the last decade. When I was a boy the women tended to be "curvy", with ample chest and hips, and a tapered waist. The classic Marilyn Munroe look. And this was true even the much heavier girls. Now the shape of the girls is usually fatter thighs, smaller breasts (unless extremely over weight), and a muffin top (fat hanging over the waist of the jeans!). Do you really think they all do the same workout and diet program? Maybe, but I would venture to say that it is our genes that are re-programming us to look like that. This look is usually due to an overabundance of estrogen and lack of progesterone. Our bodies are starving to death, overrun with nutrient deficiencies and hormonal imbalances.

Look at our cancer rates. Do you think cancer is a "new" disease?! That's it's only been around for 30-40 years ? It's our bodies way of telling us that we are breaking down! Now this is not some "doomsday' message. It's a wake up message--it's not going to get any better on it's own--and one of hope that there is help. I believe in the masterful creation of the body. That if you give it what it needs, it will in turn give you what you want (ie. more energy, better, deeper sleep, fat loss, increased muscle mass and the like.)
